Speaker replacement

Need some advice - the speaker in my roc pro 100W is knackered so I was going to replace with a Celestion. Thing is I found this bt it's rated at a 60W. I know it's probably a stupid question but will my amp blow the ar$e out of it?

Help me before I electrocute myself and/or burn my house to the ground

What does the speaker in the amp at the moment say on the back of it?

Tbh, I wouldn't - assuming the amp is using the same kind of wattage measurement as the speaker anyway. The 60W is unlikely to explode but you won't be able to crank your amp up without the speaker making horrible horrible noises. And the coil may burn out (or whatever it is that happens to speaker coils when you kill them with too much power). You want a speaker matched to the amp so you get good headroom without having so much that the speaker isn't pushing any air. Really, I'd aim in the 90-120 watt range if at all possible.

The one that's in there is an 8 ohm one. Is it this that I need to match up or is it the wattage or both? Looking at the speaker, seems like it's just a simple screw in job with the wiring just clipping on.

Ideally, you should match up impedance and wattage. Check the back of the amp to see what impedance the amp is.
