Ok I don't want people to think that I want the prise of cars to go up, God knows that they are high enough with VRT and don't turn this into a thread about VRT. So since the price of oil has gone up so much recently how come the price of cars hasn't gone up, surely the cost of manufacturing the cars has gone up with the rise in oil prices. Now I could be wrong as the price of cars generally may have gone up( but i haven't heard anything about that) or maybe the new cars were manufactured before the rise in oil prices but wouldn't that mean that cars will rise in price soon . So I would like to hear what you have to say about this :)

Mercury...you are incorrect. All plastics are fossil-fuel derived.....looked inside your car lately? Or under the bonnet? What about the paint? Or the electricity/gas used to create the energy (electricity) to build them. Or the cost of diesel to get them from Japan/Korea/Germany? I import stuff from Sweden, and yesterday I was told my freight had a 4% premium added for fuel costs.

...no, Caesar, the operative word here is.........YET

    ...

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Very true, but it's the price of oil that's going up and bringing the rest with it!

I thought the price of oil has been slowly rising for a while. I thought it was the sudden price jump over the last few days, thats the immediate issue.
