if you are in the donegal area there is a place you can buy loads of different coloured ones. it's in CT Balls on Letterkenny's main street. dunno about specsavers though. i might be in one now in a bit so i'll find out if nobody else answers

Yeah, specsavers do them, which is handy, seen as you can get your prescription as a coloured lens. I've no idea how much they cost, but they probably cost a lot more then standard lenses.

if yu already know your prescription and what type of contacts you need then get them online.

You can get them in Specsavers ect. they are expensive though at least you know they are professionally made

Be careful about buying at market stalls ect because you could end up doing damage to your eyes

Argos do them, though not prescription

I'm pretty tanned at the moment so I'd love really striking blue lens as oppossed to my usual dark brown eyes.

I tried 2 buy a pair in Argos almost 2 years ago and they had stopped selling them.not sure if they have re-stocked them again.every shop i went 2 that had them wanted me 2 take an eye test and pay €100 and wanted me 2 come back for a check-up after a month....talk about awkard

Well with non-prescription lenses, I'd avoid. They're are normally just the one size and hard. You risk damaging your eyesight by scratching your eyes with them. Everyone's eye shape is different, hence havent to get contact lenses fitted at an opticians.

But it's up to you, your eyesight!

No, that's called "being responsible". You do realise that incorrect use of contacts can blind you? I developed an infection in my left eye because of contacts and almost lost my sight because of it. I now have permanent scarring on my eyes which cannot be reversed. Do not fúck with your sight. You only get one pair of eyes.

Maybe try ringing Specsavers and asking them? But at least you're talking about going to an optician for yours. I'm surprised Argos haven't been sued yet by someone who's ruined their eyes with the contacts they sell. Contacts are medical instruments and should be treated as such, I don't know how Argos are allowed to sell them. They'll be selling remote-control pacemakers next, complete with an installation guide. I wouldn't be surprised to see DIY lung transplant kits in their next catalogue either.

specsavers do the usual ones that change your eye color or you can get them cheaper online @ www.getlenses.co.uk however if you dont actually need lenses ie you are not short sighted or long sighted you can get some really cool designs in argus or in the shop 'showco' in georges street arcade in dublin

As someone who worked in an opticians for a year I can tell you a few things.....

COntact lenses can ONLY be sold in Ireland with a valid eye test and contact lens fitting, otherwise its dodgy people you are dealing with.

Specsavers does sell couloured lenses €25 for a pair you keep for a month or ~€40 for 10 pairs that you can only wear for a day and then throw away. I don't think you'll be able to get black ones but you have to ring the store and ask.

As for the ones which you can wear for a month (and sleep in!) they are day and night lenses and cost €105 for 3 months worth. They will mean a lot of trips to the opticians in the beginning - after all it is a lens you can sleep in - but it's worth it in the end.

Yeah probably not. I assume they're breathable but also the degree by which you're short-sighted or long-sighted varies throughout the day. For a glasses wearer, you can simply take off your glasses when your glasses become uncomfortable. You can't do that if you're wearing contacts non-stop. I don't wear glasses at all when I'm sitting in front of a computer (too much near vision work and my glasses increase that effect).

iv gotten into the habit of wearin my glasses fullltime since i took the contacts out, as they say u can never go back to just wearin the glasses when necessary, but i agree bout the degree of shortsightness, that happens me. i dont think id opt for the fulltime contacts cos i like havin my eyes au naturel when im havin a shower and gettin ready to go out, thanks for the info chelle
