    Hi ppl
I have just secured the purchase of a PNY Geforce FX 5950 ultra 256mb
here on boards , now the desision before me is should I use it and pass on my Radeon ATI9800pro 128mb to my brother , or just give my brother the PNY Geforce FX5950 ultra 256mb like i was ment to do at the start

I have read a few reviews of FX5950 and the 9800pro there pretty simular in proformance , so is the 128mb worth my while changing to FX5950.
I am currently of the mind to take the FX5950

    what do ye think

    thanks
    joe

There's very little in it, the FX5950U is quicker in some games and the 9800 pro in others

Why don't you install both, play your favourite game and see which is better :)

i would recommend the 5950u (not that it was cause i sold it to u or anything) but it does run games like hl2,doom3,farcry perfectly!

what wat are the specs of the computes u plan on putting either one into?

Stick with the 9800Pro, 5950 is nowhere near as good in what counts - modern DX9 gaming. Test both cards in your system using 3D Mark 05 and see the results, the 9800Pro should give a much better score. This would be a good indicator of how the cards perform relatively in modern pc games like BF2, HL2, D3, Farcry etc. It is generally acknowledged that the entire Geforce FX range were not good, and not in the same class as ATI's 9700&9800 range. Having seen Doom3, Farcry, HL2 et al. run on both a 5950Ultra and Radeon9800 Pro, I have to agree with the general consensus.
