Munster are so short of backs at the moment that they have to shove David Wallace out on the wing ...

It'll be ... "Interesting" at the very least.

I doubt their short, Devlin and Mossie are there if they needed them. Experimentation against the Borders is fine in my books.

Agreed, and Leinster are absolutley screwed this season. about 7 first team squad players out, and only one in.

*sigh* It's going to be a long season. I think the fantastic IRFU strategy, and the management at international and provincial level is falling apart. The gravey train is derailed im afraid...it's the start of a critical period in Irish rugby. Unless somebody steps up and makes big decisions in the IRFU this season, we'll be in the same boat as Scotland before long. :(

The talent is still there, but they run the business badly. One section (Munster) need backs, but have surplus forwards, another section is running low on forwards but has a spare backs (Leinster).
They've more or less destroyed Paddy Wallace's career, nearly destroyed Jeremy Staunton's career (certainly they've damaged it), Casey and Brennan were pushed all the way out too. No wonder players like Duffy, Humphries jnr and Jennings are getting out of the system before it works it's magic on them.

Kidney is a far too conservative coach imo. There are some good attacking players that are not getting in the team because they aren't the best tacklers.

Munsters real problem though has been their poor skill level. Every 5th pass you'd expect the ball to be fumbled. Compare Munster to Wasps and it shows the difference. Wasps havn't the big name players like Leicester but they can throw the ball left to right to left again and you know they'll not drop the ball.

Leinster will miss Jennings and Byrne and espically Holwell but all the others were only fair players. Leinster could have the 15 greatest players in the world but they'd win nothing because of their unbelievably weak, losers mentality. The clearout will freshen the team up and help them start afresh. Cheika is said to be a no-nonsense coach which is what they badly need after last years mess left by kidney.

Huh? He's starting to play flankers on the wing! and he doesnt need to. For the first time in god knows how long Munster actually have some backs. There are a load of new players coming through as well, most noteable is Devlin he's a big enough wing at 15st.
Will admit Kidney needs to throw caution to the wind his year and start doing something different Munsters play was very easy to read last year. Flannery picked ahead of Sheahan is htis a big U-Turn?

Thats what I'm saying. Why dosn't he play a winger on the wing. I actually think Wallace could be a big success on the wing with his power and pace but he's only there because he's better at defending than any of the younger players at the moment.

I agree about the talent coming through. I hope he'll play some of these players.

Good game by Munster Vs Ospreys.

It's a shame Munster didn't get the bonus, but they looked the part in that match.

They're my team to win the CL this year.

(Leinster to win the HC though, of course ;))

they did get a bonus point, Payne scored the fourth try after 70 minutes.

Does anybody know how the Glasgow Warriors prop is doing after what happened to him on Saturday evening? Poor lad looked bad...

Now that you mention it, no :(

It was pretty nasty but according to the Glasgow physio "It's not as bad as it looked". That's good news anyway, although I'd imagine he'll be out for a while.

There's interesting article here about how the injury spurred Glasgow on to a pretty impressive performance.

I'm glad he's ok. We couldn't really see much on TV but we could hear him shout and the people in the stands looked pretty shocked. Fair play to Glasgow for sticking together and winning the match! By far the better team on the night I thought.

The whole incident reminded me of when I got knocked out on a tackle (in exactly the same conditions actually) last year. I don't remember a thing but it wasn't a great feeling when I came to... :s

The Welsh clubs fixtures are handicapping them. They will suffer at the end of the season.

Sorry for dragging this back up, but what exactly happened the Glasgow prop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,082 ✭✭✭Nukem

Watched the Ospreys yesterday in the Powergen and they looked very tired at the end of the match. Reckon it will really fla them come the end of the season!
