which would you recommend? OC-2 or OC-3, from a bass player point of view?
It will probably be played mostly with an ODB-3. Im going for that Muse sound, although he uses a big muff. Could also be good for some chili-esque poncing.

I always liked the sound of the OC2 when I played guitar through it. Very fat sound. As long as your not playing 2 strings at once its great. If playing 2 strings on bass at once is something you do then go with the OC3

I heard that the OC-2 goes crazy if you play two strings at the same time. I was going to get an OC-2, or maybe a DOD envelope filter, Its all a bit confusing really, so many effects, so little money.

Why bother? Keep things simple. Those things are gimmicky anyway.

Maybe to get a different sound? Why use a different amp? Why use a wah pedal? Why use a distortion pedal? Why use any effects? Why use a tone knob?

So you can get a sound of strings from the guitar :p

Why not just get an acoustic then. Do away with amps, effects, tone knobs etc? :p

    OR just play the Lute!

If you're looking to play more than one string at a time I'd recommend a pitchshifter instead of an octave pedal. I've been using one on my guitar lately (the Boss Super Shifter) and you can get some very nice full, fat and heavy sounds out of it. Plus you can use it as a regular octave pedal with its harmonist function.
