Toshiba SDP-1600 & Region Free

I was wondering if anyone knows if the Toshiba SDP-1600 can be purchased or made region free?? I have checked the usual places videohelp etc but cant find anything! :( Ideally I just want to use this portable DVD player to watch some of the tv programme boxsets I have on the bus etc. If I was to backup my dvds using…
