US forum where I post a lot is abound with stories of rolling blackouts, surging gas prices at the pump and talk of a lot of price hikes. This is in states across the continent.
Release of the Strategic Oil reserve isn't going to do SFA since they can't even get power to many of the gulf coast refineries that haven't been damaged.
This is a rolling stone. And there's a sh*tlaod of moss.

On a side note if you've ever read Titor's theories', the civil unrest in NO and the other affected areas are somewhat poigniant and fall inside his Summer 05 time frame (sorry for OT but just thought I'd mention it)

Yea a wee bit offtopic but was thinking that too. Master Hoaxer, or just got lucky.

Anyway the speech he mentioned opening up the US borders to make it easier for oil to get in and told people not to fill up at the pumps unless it is absolutly nessary.

Yeah....I know it's pie in the sky stuff, but who saw this current mess coming?

Also CNN reporting a sniper taking potshots at people trying to evacuate the NO hosptial. This is only hours after a copter was fired on at te superdome evacuation

Oh and here's a link to some hack's blog;

I don't think I really have the vocabulary for this situation.

We just heard a couple of gunshots go off. There's a building smoldering a block away. People are picking through whatever is left in the stores right now. They are walking the streets because they have nowhere else to go.

Right now, I'm a few blocks away from the New Orleans Convention Center area. We drove through there earlier, and it was unbelievable. Thousands and thousands and thousands of people spent the night sleeping on the street, on the sidewalk, on the median.

The convention center is a place that people were told to go to because it would be safe. In fact, it is a scene of anarchy.

There is absolutely nobody in control. There is no National Guard, no police, no information to be had.

The convention center is next to the Mississippi River. Many people who are sleeping there feel that a boat is going to come and get them. Or they think a bus is going to come. But no buses have come. No boats have come. They think water is going come. No water has come. And they have no food.

As we drove by, people screamed out to us -- "Do you have water? Do you have food? Do you have any information for us?"

We had none of those.

Probably the most disturbing thing is that people at the convention center are starting to pass away and there is simply nothing to do with their bodies. There is nowhere to put them. There is no one who can do anything with them. This is making everybody very, very upset.

Sounds like something out of the third world really....in only 4 days.

Is Bush saying that oil has been cut off because of the storms?

Could be scaremongering, but then again that's the last thing he needs to do when a whole city has fallen into Mob Rule

It was on skynews. He was beside Clinton and Bush Sr. He looked visibily disturbed and was stuttering at the start.

He mentioned that the main oil line was up but only at 15% capacity. That people should not rush out and buy Gas unless absolutly required. Likewise not to drive your car. He mentioned dropping border restrictions to allow forigen oil tankers to get in easier. Mentioned a lot of other stuff but I can't seem to find the Speech anywhere online yet. :/

Channel 4 reported that Bush has asked Americans 'not to use gasoline unless necessary'.

uh oh

I posted this on the 16 of this month..think it's a decent prediction.
have been having very vivid dreams these last few weeks, really drained too.
Had one last night were I struck gold (oil, fell onto a previously undiscovered oilfield and ended up quite wealthy)
Was talking to someone about it earlier though and a lot fo detail came up. I remember the agency responsible for officiating the oil (???) was called F.E.M.A.
I didnt realise until I woke that fema is the federal emergency managment agency. (US)
I'll just say that a lot of the symbolism in the dream is reflective of political situations. (I did apply it on a personal level too) but at the minute and I'm thinking "watch this space"

oh yes..and I come from the year 2032. :o

Do I get brownie points?

Bush isn't the one saying it here....in fact he's trying to calm the crisis the way I read it (not found Hobbes' story anywhere yet, mind).
The markets are telling Bush and his administration that even release of the SOR is pouring oil on the water (terrible pun) since there is nowhere to refine it. Bush has offered to release the SOR to other non-US refineries, but the logistics involoved mean the arkets aren't buying it as a tactic and the price is back up to near the 70 dollar mark again.

The real sh*t is gonna hit the fan when local pockets of petrol/gasoline run out in Smalltown USA (albeit temporarily) and people start panic buying elsewhere. This is going to get a lot worse before anything starts getting better.
Natural gas production on the gulf coast is also badly affected; this impacts power stations in the region, which is leading to the organised rolling blackouts (mainly Florida for now)....when people start loosing their AC and their net connection, you push things up another gear...

From just last Sunday. I haven't been following the hurricane's path, but this could be what he's referring to.

http://www.al.com/news/mobileregister/index.ssf?/base/news/1125220523171400.xml&coll=3
If Hurricane Katrina holds true to predictions and tracks north through the toe of Louisiana's boot, much of the nation's oil and natural gas infrastructure will be exposed to 140 mile per hour winds, 30- to 50-foot waves, and water current speeds of around 20 knots all the way from the surface to the sea floor.

"This storm is going to pass through the meat of the oil and gas fields. The whole country will feel it, because it's going to cripple us and the country's whole economy," said Capt. Buddy Cantrelle with Kevin Gros Offshore, which supplies rigs via a fleet of large crew vessels.

Closest I can find so far.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2005/09/01/national/w073213D74.DTL

Still doesn't cover in detail what he said.

I'm as much of a believer in the paranormal as the next decendent from an Alien race which created the Pyramids, but could we save the Titor stuff for the Paranormal forum, please.

This is pretty amazing stuff, I've been following The Interdictor blog and his tone is just getting more and more dark. With all of this on top of the crisis in NO, Bush is walking on eggshells. It's not that it's his fault, but with his approval rating so very low he has to ensure that he doesn't do anything stupid, and even if he does the right thing, the public may take their anger out on him for the lack of oil etc.

wonder how will "loosing" 20 oil rigs in the gulf affect production.
[edit] apologies for going ot flogen, couldnt help responding to the question.

NP, can't say it didn't interest something in me too, but sadly this isn't the place for Titor talk!

I agree but it's against my principles to post/read the conspiracy forum...it was just something that crossed my mind while I was typing my initial reply.

On topic, it always astounds me how in times of crisis, Bush Jr pulls daddy in from the wings for a team hustle. Clinton was about at the time of the asian tsunami and we see him again today...Dubya is trying to say something without talking IMO....although I'm not sure what exactly that is...

Well, the subliminal thing is "I need these educated people to back me up"
The liminal thing is "This is non-partisan, we're all Americans really"
And the superliminal thing is "Look! A president you all love, standing next to me! Love me!!!"

He's now promising to visit people on the ground in New Orleans...a city where the streets are patrolled by sharks and snipers shoot at hospital patients...
I can just see it now, where he repels down from a black hawk, hands some hobo a sandwich and smiles for the press, before waving a banner at the winch crew saying "Mission Accomplished" and making a secret hand signal to get him the f*ck out of there.

If he did all that he'd get my vote in '08! :D

Any and all bush speeches will be found on his website: http://www.whitehouse.gov

The story itself: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/09/20050901-3.html
2:45 P.M. EDT THE PRESIDENT: Good afternoon. Thanks for coming. I'm honored to be with former Presidents Bush and Clinton. Thank you all for being here. We just spent some time talking about the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. I brought them up to date on what I know about the latest developments there on the ground. We're united in our sympathy; we're united in our determination to help the good people that have been affected by this hurricane.

Also, there's a link to the video on the page.

=-=

In my understanding, the Kat f*cked up about 25% of the oil stuff in the US. Pumps, etc. Also, Kat beached some big oil tanker. thats a good chunk. Now, add the fact that garages may not be refilled any time soon, as roads are proberly f*cked, and you see a sliding slope. If people didn't fill up the cars unless they needed to, they (the Americans) won't find out that the gas is running low too soon. By then, Bush hopes to have some of the major garages filled.

=-=

This was waiting to happen. The city was a metre or so under sea level, and even now that it has "leveled out" alot of the city is still a couple of feet under water.
