Remove Paint from Tar Mac

    Hi i have a problem with paint all over the tar mac in the back yard. My 3 year old son decided to do some painting :( i have a power hose and tried to remove it but it takes so long to get the smallest bit off and also damages the tar mac. I was told to try petrol but not to sure about this?? I was also told about a black tar mac paint but am afraid i will have patch's all over the garden. Any help or idea's woud be great. Thanks!!

    matt black paint might be the only answer.It might fade/blend in after some walking on it.

    Hi Jayo,

    Depending on the type of paint, I presume oil based due to the difficulty in removing it ?

    Perhaps a "cover up" would be a product by Rubberoid basically a black refresher paint that apply all over the tarmac.

    I can't recall the name but if you call them at (01) 8855090 they may sell you a 25 litre drum that covers quite an area.

    Petrol or diesel will break up the oils in the tarmac and cause major damage because the bitumen content will remain soft.

    Or ya could just get more colourful paint and paint a lovely hop scotch grid for your 3yr old :D:D

    Depending on how big the job is and how keen you are on completely removing the paint this crowd might be worth a look: http://www.stripperspaintremovers.com/

    they specialise in non-abrasive paint removers - the gear removes the paint not your scrubbing so the material underneath is not damaged. I'm sure theyll have something to suit.

    I just got a shipment of their Klingstrip and have been truly amazed at the job it has done of removing 50years worth of gloss from my stairs - its completely back to the original wood.

    I have no association with that crowd, just read about their stuff on askaboutmoney.com and am delighted I found it cos it has saved me hours of labour.
