    Hi all,

I'm looking for a really slim, light weight laptop. I currently have a Dell but its fairly bulky. I was looking at a Sony (i think its a T1) but it was around 3k. I'm willing to spend around 2,000

    Any ideas??

Have a look at the sony S series, I have an S2XP and its brilliant - slim, light, fast. Pricey, but you should be able to get one for about 2k.

this looks like a good deal.

i have a T1, and its good but the screen is WAY too small.
the dell x1 is better as its a bigger screen, and a 3 year warranty also, as well as being half price. just specify the extended battery option as a spare and u are ready to rock for 1600 euro.

Have a look at the Samsung X20. It's slim and only weighs 2.3kg. Sexy looking peice of ef equipment. Only problem is you can only get it from the UK. Check out digiuk.com. They ship to Ireland

I second that!! Got an X20 from digiuk about two months back and I love it! It's a sweet machine, light, portable, powerful, and yes, a sexy piece of equipment. Got mine ex-vat and worked out at €1450 all-in.

They were selling them on komplett.ie not too long ago. Although they ship from holland/germany?? so it's much of a muchness. UK is as good a place as any, and nearer aswell.

It's the Q30. Different model to both the X20 and X30. Over a kilo lighter than both, given that the other two have a built-in optical drive that the X1 doesn't.

I just ordered Sony FS315S due to be out in October for €1449 inc vat and delivery from Sonystyle.ie. Specs are good for the price me thinks:

    Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology with Intel® Pentium® M processor 750 (1.86 Ghz and 533 MHz FSB)
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home with Service Pack 2
    100GB (Ultra ATA / 100 4200rpm) hard disk drive
Memory: 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM , 2 x 512 MB (shared with Video Memory), maximum 2 GB DDR SDRAM
    Widescreen 15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800) X-black LCD screen
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 6400 with TurboCache™ supporting 128MB (NVIDIA® TurboCache™ technology combines the size and bandwidth of video memory and dynamically available system memory for optimal system performance)
    Double layer DVD±RW drive
    Dimensions (W x H x D): 364 x 25.4 - 36,4 x 264.5 mm
    Weight with battery: 2.850 kg

    Can't wait :D

I HATE the fact that SonyStyle causes me to switch to bloody IE to view it and use the menu's! :(

    Small, light, powerfull etc.

Just wondering has anyone ever bought or used one of these?
What are the company like to deal with.

I'm interested in a windows laptop that is about 12" & light etc.

This seems to be exactly what I need and around €900 at a conversion guess, much cheaper than most of the rest.

bugger I would have seriously considered that instead of my recently purchased dell x1 if I had known about it. Good spec and good reviews.

Its about €1000 with the exchange rate atm.

    Yes, I have one.

Well actually when I got it it cost 1100 from Cyberport.de and has a german keyboard and the brandname Cebop.

But the same thing, Alienware have them rebranded as the sentia with some glowing lights justifying the 900 euro or so premium I was looking at at the time.

Great little thing. On batteries just writing emails and stuff you'll get a good bit over 3 hrs from the estimates mine was giving me. DVD burner, incredible screen (same as Sony X-Black pretty much) etc.

Though, get a gig of RAM, I find 512 with Windows XP really doesn't cut it anymore.

Plus it will play DVD's from the HD or DVD drive without booting windows which is kinda cool.
