This was an issue of some contention a while back and I can't remember if it was ever resolved. But I figure there should be concrete facts now, does anybody know if Japanese and Euro PSPs do indeed share the same Region for UMD videos?

Yes. Japanese and European UMD's will play on eachother's systems.

thats exactly why i purchased a jap psp in america, because i didnt want to be ordering R1 movies.
