Bar Wages

Does anyone know what the typical bar pay per hour is? I have quite a bit of experience of doing bar work (part-time) over the years but never kept track as to how much I was being paid hourly. Am going for an interview for a bar job soon and want to know what I should be looking for. Any guidelines?

But it really compares where abouts in the country you are based , i know working in bars in louth and working in bars in dublin the money is a big difference also depends if the bar you are about to start in has a union

Thanks for that but that survey is for full time bar work.

just calculate per hour then.

ex:

19k p.a [based on 35hr wk] (av) = €10.43 p/hr
21k p.a [based on 35hr wk] (av) = €11.53 p/hr

Really depends on the venue... Anything from €8.50-€14 per hour.... Nightclubs generally pay slightly better than bars, since the hours are shorter but it still has to be attractive enough to go to work. You may also, depending on the nightclub, earn tips, which can make all the difference....
