i turned my computer on today and it seems to be running a little slow. i have checked my cpu usage and it says it's at 100%. is this normal??

currently i'm running zonealarm, !avast, avg, spyware doc, microsoft antispyware (it's SHIIIIIIIITE btw) word, itunes and the UD agent (cancer research - kinda like seti)

it sounds like a lot, but i assume most of these (firewall, antivirus etc) would use very little of the cpu. even when i put things on hold/turn off (like UD agent or antivirus) there is no drop. i've scanned for viruses and i get nothing. though i realise this doesn't meant anything as such.

    any help would be appreciated

    btw, i have an AMD 3000+ (745)

Look under Taskmanager and go to processes, if there is a process called trvscan using up all of ur CPU usuage go the Zonealrm website and do a search on it and there should be a file there that will stop this from happening.

i wouldn't have two anti viruses on the go at the same time. that would def slow things down...

having said thar you said you've switched both of..

I'd download this to see what process exactly is eating up your CPU usage....

    thanks guys!
it appears that it was the UD - cancer research programme - after all. it's strang because i've been running it for a long time now without any noticeable consequences.

Well that thing uses as much cpu as possible as it is processing data.

i always assumed that it would use as much as it can but not at the expense of other programmes. it's ok now though. must have had a little fit!

besides, it's for a good cause and all that!

    thanks again guys :):)
