Looking for some help - has anyone had the problem where they can't access just 1 website from their pc?

I can access every other site in the world except for 1.

Any ideas how to fix this - there isn't a problem with the website I'm trying to access so it's definitely my computer.

Well the best thing to do is to give the specs that hes asking for and he is good and helping with problems, never be vage just tell them everythign about ur system, even put it in as ur sig.

I didn't mean to come across as abrupt, perhaps I should have tossed a smiley face into my original post :)

I can be like that sometimes :P

It's most likely a problem with that particular website, if you let us know what it is some of us can try it and see if it works. Other than that it may be that the website uses something not compatible with your browser, let us know what errors you're getting and we may be able to help.

    OK - the details are:

Website: www.magicmum.com (there isn't a problem accessing the site from any other pc)
I'm working from a home pc
    I used windows xp
The 2 browsers I use are - internet explorer and Mozilla Fire Fox

The website isn't the most important one in the world but I work from home and it's great for contacts and selling products!!!

When I type in the address it's says on the bottom line 'opening www.magicmum.com' but it can't and then the page appears that says 'this page can not be displayed' and then sometimes it reverts to the msn search engine and says it can't find www.magicmum.com. That's all that happens.

Someone said it could be a routing problem and this could lie with SmartTelecom (I have broadband through them).

Well the site has horrible response times (>250ms)

May be a problem. Try accessing it 5 times

The website may have changed servers in the meantime, and for some unknown reason your system is defaulting to your stored DNS resolve cache instead of checking the servers on the net itself for the appropriate server name and ip address.

    Try this:

Click start, go to run, click it then in the box type cmd. A dos emulation box will appear. Type ipconfig /flushdns, then try the site again in either browser.

Achilles, tried that and still nothing.

the website has changed to a new server and seemingly now they have massive ads appearing throughout the site so I wonder would this have anything to do with the problems.

If it was a problem with the ads, you'd probably get to see some of the page, probably even all of it apart from the ads.

It may be that something saved on your PC is preventing you seeing the new server. In Internet Explorer try going to 'Tools' and then 'Internet Options'. In the section for 'Temporary Internet Files' click on 'Delete Cookies' and 'Delete Files', you could also try 'Delete History' altough I don't think that'll make a difference.

If that doesn't work try opening the Dos Prompt again, like Achilles said, but this time type "tracert www.magicmum.com". Copy and paste the results up here (to copy text from a dos prompt just highlight it as normal and press Ctrl+C, then just paste as normal). This will show the 'route' from your PC to magicmum and we may be able to see where the problem is.

You forget tho that the dos emulator in windows can't automatically copy and paste. You'll have to click the icon in the window in the top left hand corner, select edit, then mark. Select the text you want to copy, click on the icon again, go to edit, then click copy.

Well I can access the site now!!! I disconnected the modem and set it up again and low and behold all is working!

I also contacted the people that run the site, though they said it wasn't their fault, so maybe they fixed the problem but didn't want to admit it was them.

    thanks for all your help.

Doubtful, it was probably just DNS resolver cache stored in your modem and or router than refused to update.
