I need to buy an amp... and I dont really know what to get.

I dont want to spend a huge amount of money as I've already spent a fair oul bit on guitars and such this year.

I dont really want a valve amp...I know they're great and all, but I think its out of my price range and they seem to be a fair bit of hassle.

I need one that'd be decent enough for gigging...thinking most venues mic them yeah.

Need something versatile that'll work well with semi-acoustic, electric and keyboard.

I'd really like to have a vox, though if its not the best option I'll go with whatever ye recommend.

How much do you have to spend and tbh, I wouldn't run a semi-acoustic and a keyboard into a guitar amp. You might be ok with the semi but I doubt the keyboard would sound great at volume.

You should look at a Roland cube amp or something. I used to have an old Cube-100 that was a keyboard amp, sounded great with an acoustic guitar too, very clean.

I'm sure there are updated versions.

You shouldn't put a semi-acoustic through an amp.
It should go into a DI and straight to the desk, ditto for keyboard.
What kind of electric are you playing?
Vox do solid state modelling amps, but their flagships are all valve.
    What's your budget?

A guitar preamp will be designed for a signal from a magnetic pickup, it really won't do justice to a piezo from an acoustic or a line level keyboard. Besides that, the speaker in a guitar amp doesn't really have the frequency response for either.

Get a powered speaker like one of those Thomann The Box wedges for about 250 euro. It'll do for the keyboard as a live monitor and in practice, and it'll help with the acoustic in practice.

Then save for a proper guitar amp, or sell some guitars. A good amp is more important. :p

What... you're gonna sell me your ENGL? heh heh.. legend! Fiver do yeah? Ah yeah, I was thinking of asking ya about that, has a good sound to it alright, I was just curious to see if it'd be better to have keyboards/acoustics amped and then miced. Someone recently was telling me to get an acoustic amp, though they didnt know a whole lot about amps, just knew there were such things.
So DIing keyboard and semi-acoustic is the preferred way to go? If thats the case then I kinda have more of a clue. Dont ask me where I got the whole "its better to put a semi-acoustic into an amp", for some reason the way the dude explained it made sense.... went along the lines of "well, you could plug an electric guitar into the PA, but you dont cause its crap"... and then it all kinda made sense.
I've got an SG and I dont want to spend more then 400 ( I think Tony Fitz asked that, or at least someone asked that. gez I dunno at this stage in the night... I'm goin to bed!)

i have to admit, i'm using that instead of my engl at our rehearsal space at the moment and it really doesn't sound too bad, sounds a lot better then it did in my room that's for damn sure!!! And the effects on it are really good imo
