Can anyone point me in the direction of a good "how to" guide for installing ipod linux on a 4th gen photo iPod? I've never touched linux before this and I'm pretty sure my problems are extremely basic.
Has anyone here installed the OS on their ipod and could help me out?

    thanks

    Out of interest, why?

Why am I hoping to install it? Well it's for the recording capabilities, mainly. Even if I bought the mic accessory for the ipod it would only record at 8Htz, which is appauling for anything other than notes. The ipod (3rd gen at least) is capable of up to 96Htz, but Apple limited it (apparently to stop bootleggers at gigs).
I want to use my ipod for interviews, and as they just got recording working on the 4th gen I thought I'd give it a go.

I'm sure I'll try the other bits out on it, like video playback or some of the games, but not very much I imagine.

thanks for that link, never even thought to look at that, just went straight to the 4th gen install page. I think it may be to do with the firmware version I was running, it tells you to roll it back but I thought it was just to the last update, it may be earlier. Will let you know how I get on.

Still getting the same problem, even with last years firmware. I put all the files in the root folder, rename the nightly build as podzilla, and go ahead with the installer, but just towards the end it says that it could not find a file and to check my installer.. Sometimes it works but linux refuses to boot up properly on the ipod and just stalls.

    Very odd.

ok, got it working (somehow) but the recording is still a problem. Perfect!
