Does Nation Pay Deal apply to private sector ??

    Quick question.
I'm working in an IT company so obviously I'm not in a Union, so I always thought that the National pay deal didn't apply to me.

Yesterday I was told that if my Employer is a member of IBEC (I've checked and they are) then they are bound by the national pay agreement which the current one apparently promises "5.5% increase in 3 phases over 18 months."

Is this correct ?? (if so, links to something official I can refer HR drones to would be great)

It is binding unless they can plead inability to pay.

Well they can't plead inability to pay as we're a large FTSE 100 company who made record profits last year.

I spoke to a hr drone this morning but they claim that IBEC isn't part of the pay deal, then corrected herself and said IBEC are but while we're a member of IBEC we're not signed up to the pay deal.
