    Can anyone tell me where is the cheapest place to buy microsoft office. and which one should I get. I am a student at the moment and heard somewhere that you can get better deals. seen a second hand one in amazon 2003 for something like £89 but worry in case it might be ****

    Why not grab yourself openoffice, it's not quite MS office but it has all you will need and it is free, that's more beer money for the average student ;)

    Not a loss on this if you are looking for office functionality, I dont use it a lot so wouldn't be able to vouch for how close it gets to MS but imagine it has to be almost the same.

    I've swiched to openoffice recently;

    Wordprocessor is waaaaay better than Word
    Spreadsheet is rubbish
    Powerpoint clone is about the same

    You can get the student edition here for €129

    However as Blub2k4 suggests the latest version of Open office is free and has all the functionality of MSOffice, in that it can create documents in MSOffice format.

    Open Office here - http://download.openoffice.org/2.0beta2/index.html

    You can also create PDFs in it as MSOffice file formats which is nice.

    Are you saying that you can get Office Pro 2003 for that price. I'll take one from you if you're selling it.
