    Price range: 800-1000

Intended use: I want a decent laptop for college but i wont use it for more than surfing the net dont play any games and i dont code etc. Id like it to have a dvd recorder

Mobility: Not a big thing mostly itll be plugged in.

    Id like a 40 g hardrive

Tv out not needed, i dont want a dell laptop and id like to be able to buy it in ireland but i would consider abraod if it would be significantly cheaper.

Basicly as basic as they come for browsing and watching DVDs, id apreciate any help at all.

Just out of curiosity why don't you want a dell?im just after ordering a dell insprion 6000 laptop form them today for cit?you can get a laptop from them for as little as €549...
also if mobility isnt a big factor you should get a dekstop way better value for money?

I need it for college but it will be mostly plugged in like like short battery life isnt a problem.

I really dislike dell, and dont really think you get value for money!!
