Dabs have great selection and you don't need to be an expert at building computers. Delivery is cheap and fast too.

Komplett.ie is more configurable, but is it worth the hassle?

If you have a problem dabs are UK based and are by reputation a lot more difficult to deal with. I have used Komplett and they are good. End of story.

    pixmania.com all the way!!

    Komplett and Pixmania.

Ordered a bunch of stuff off Komplett on a Monday and had it on Wednesday morning.

Ordered a set of Logitech Z-5500 speakers off Pixmania (at 12.56 :D next day delivery), last Friday and I should have them tomorrow. DHL says that it's left France anyway so they better friggin be here!

Dabs.com seem to be more competive on price as far as I can see.

Ordered some stuff last week (case, memory, graphics card, DVD writer, HD) and Dabs came in just under €400, Komplett were €475 for alsmost exactly the same items (case was a good bit cheaper on dabs).

As regards delivery, dabs are a little bit dearer, but not much.

As regards service, we shall have to wait and see....

(Bank holiday in UK will cause some delays I expect)

    ;););)

    elara.ie and microaid.ie

In particular found microaid very good for responding to queries or sourcing stuff not listed. Always cheapest for what i needed to buy.

Yeah, which is a great deal nearer then where komplett are based, doesn't make any difference really...

Komplett are lousy with customer service as fair as i'm concerned, and delivery is hit or miss...

yea! its sh1t. But i tend to decide what i want and then jsut price it rather than browse through it. Or if i'm feeling lazy i mail and say "I want this, how much?"

I think half the reason i love pixmania is there website is so easy on the eyes. Great layout with the best pics iv ever seen. If i want a clear pic of a product i go there before i go to the manufacutres website  . Im sure they must take some of those themselves :D .

Both have their issues. Komplett have less.

I've had my share of DABS.COM and my most recent dealings involved a strongly worded letter to them telling them to shove it.

Komplett.ie all the way for me.

I ordered a UPS from pixmania on 12th august, next day delivery my arse, they were in stock when I ordered, shipped on 24th, delivered on 29th( as in yesterday).

    Avoid like the plague.

Gurgle, think yr being unfair  . I no at least 10 people who have used them and have been 100% satisfied. I have heard of many komplett horror stories just like yours. Your story is the first bad thing iv heard about them  .

I just did a quick comparison of prices as someone in my family is looking for an upgrade to thier PC and I was going to get the bits from Komplett. For an upper-middle of the range spec that has A64 3000+, 1G RAM, 250G HD, 6800GT, DVD writer and case with 400W PS the price comes to €994 on komplett and €873 (£598) on dabs, both include delivery and were mostly the same components. So over €120 savings from dabs. I wasn't expecting that.

I have bought from both and never had a problem or had to return anything so I can't comment on how good/bad either of them are.

I think I'll give dabs a try for the next order though.

Reporting my bad experience with Pixmania in the 'whos a good supplier' thread is unfair ?

I've used Pixmania once - 100% Failure rate
I've used Komplett at least a dozen times - 100% Success rate

    ... so I recommend Komplett.

Bummer, victim of the Hub and Spoke transit system. Was at a conference sponsored by DHL once, and I had to sit through 90 minutes of how the system works.. Instead of flying a plane from France to Ireland every time they have enough packages to fill one, they send everything to a centralised hub every night. So if you DHL something from London to Dublin, it goes via Belgium (their European hub)!

I've used both komplett and Dabs on half a dozen occassions each, and I've successfully returned stuff to both. Dabs, click on return item, they send you a box, nothing complicated really, but not quick.
Biggest problem with both was GLS who are TOTAL muppets. Three or four times (as in 25% of the time) I've had to to drive up to their poxy depot and pick up my parcel. Also, I'm practically on first name terms with their staff, having to chase my two-week's late parcels virtually every time I order from either of them.
IT Direct, the lads are decent, and you can pick up on Parliment st. Yes, it's way more expensive (for most but not all things), but it's convienent.
