Cancel your order. Dells are not cheap and why reward them with your hard earned cash when they are doing a crap job.

    My Suggestion...

Post up what model you had ordered. Someone here i'm sure will offer to build it for you. Let them make a 10% profit and you'll have a cheaper and better PC by next weekend.

    Just my 2c

Ditto. If your having this much hassle getting a PC from them, think how much hassle you will have if anything goes wrong. You'll save money by getting one built for you...

Friend of mine ahs had problems like this with them before. They normally offer him all sorts of discounts and extras when he kicks up a fuss.

But if you do have problems down the line, don't expect to get any help off the person who builds it for you....

On a related note; I'd be willing to build it for you. :p

I've vowed to never buy from Dell again after being shafted by their customer support once too often. It's appalling, especially if you get redirected to India.

Good luck finding someone to complain to. They f**ked me about so much, and then gave me an EMAIL ADDRESS to complain to! Apparently that was their complains dept. Long angry email, never got a reply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,722 ✭✭✭maidhc

When I had probelems with the outlet before I just rang the sales line (NOT customer support) and told them my problems. They fixed me up no bother, (well it was bother, but it worked out in the end)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,943 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

    i rang today
for once i was talking to an irish person [what a relieve]

    she told me the problem

the factory are having trouble reconizing the service tags

and i asked nicely 'is there a monitor with it she said no but then she said she'll talk to the manager about giving me one for free

the manager is suppose to call me back at 12.00

im going to ask for extra ram too or should i

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,485 ✭✭✭✭Khannie

whats the 5100 like compared to the xps

i could have the 5100 tomorrow but i would have to wait for the xps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,707 ✭✭✭skywalker

So their giving you nothing for your trouble, but their prepared to downgrade your case for you. Thats nice of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,541 ✭✭✭irlrobins

    this is the 5100

    This is the XPS.

    :p

Assuming specs are the same (video card, etc) then the XPS, prob has better PSU and those fancy lights.

Edit: Oh and the chipset is prob better on XPS.

That's exactly what I did after Dell screwed me over in a big way, on an order. I walked into Maplin and PC World the next day and came away with parts for a better machine, at a saving of 500 euro.

best prices will def be online... so the usual suspects komplett.ie, elara.ie and microaid.ie

    Amazon.co.uk sometimes have good deals..

Benq do some nice ones with quick response times....

    150???

Dream on!!! Average price for 17" is 240-300. Not many 15" around these days.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Save some money. Buy a 17" crt for dirt in the meantime. as long as you have a big desk no difference for gaming anyway, at least not if you just use it shorttime.

725 for a PC from Dell with a 256mb 6800 is exceptionally good value.

i know its a 14" inch but will that do my pc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,541 ✭✭✭irlrobins

come on! you can't get a really cool PC and then use a 14" monitor.

That would be a waste of the graphics card. Be useless for games too...

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 8,679 Mod ✭✭✭✭Rew

14" TFT's are tiny I wouldn't waste your cash. You will never resell it. Spend the 300 and get a bigger one. That or buy a 19" or 21" CRT. Ill sell ya my 21" CRT fro 60 quid :)

I have 2 17" CRT LG Flatrons. They are VERY nice monitors and are a year old. I'm getting rid of them as I have recently purchased a couple of TFT's.

    This is them.

I'll sell one to you, if you want, or both :). I'm not sure of the charter rules. I may have to post it into the for sale forum first. Or you post in the wanted forum.

Make me an offer and where are you based?

    Dont buy a 14"!!!

    Get a s/h 19" CRT at a minimum. Pay about 50-70.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

That monitor is quite possibly the worst LCD monitor on the market. Steer clear!
