When i run a virus scan on my laptop i get change boot sector of disc at the top and i'm wondering what that is about.I have always gotten that.True i have nearly always had a problem booting for hours after i turn my laptop off and try to turn it on again but i sent it away and they 'fixed' it.Their explanation was that it was just overheating due to dust gathering which imo is bollocks since it was like that from day one, when it was in perfect condition. When i got it back all was fine for one day and then the booting problem came back.Since it is not a major problem as i would never have a reason to turn off my laptop and turn it on again i have not sent it back as i need it too much.Anyway i'm wondering what could be wrong with it.It has no problems when i try to turn it on when it has been off all night and no problems when restarting but when i turn it on,even for a minute, and then turn it off i have to wait hours for it to be able to boot up again.Typically it just looks like it is about to come on but the screen remains blank and it just goes off.

Can't think of anything off the top of my head, but you should return it again before it lets you down when you need it most.

em well eh...em eh....i don't have a clue how to do that :)
dont even know what BSODing is...

its weird,it works absolutely fine apart from this rebooting thing..i know if it is going to go on becaus i can hear the hd make a noise so i know windows will boot up....otherwise it powers up and nothing happens so it just goes off..

anyway it actually takes days!!! now before i can boot up so i think i should send it back because i really need it working...

i have left it on now for a day or two and i am thinking of leaving it on for like a week or two till they can come and get it...

I have a very similar problem and was putting it down to a power problem. I tried taking the battery out and leaving it fully discharge and also making sure AC is plugged out, this seems to help a bit, but is not fool proof. Never seems to start first time, but like yours makes noise if its gonna be ok, other than that sounds like its gonna start but then just does nothing. I hold down the power button for 5 secs and it flashes and completely shuts down, then try again, tried for 2 days at one stage with nothing happening and lost 2 days working time, just gonna bring it to a service guy and it started living again - What can I do bar leave it on all day and night??? Think i might appeal for help on a new thread
