    Hi Lads

I'm looking for some help in finding a cheap wireless network card.
I've done a bit of research and this seems to be a bit of a minefield.
If any of you know of PCI card that is a reasonable cost could you let me know please.

    Running CentOS 4.1

    Thanks,
    Eóin

yea I got burnt buying the SMC 2804 card,
I looked it up on prisim forums and they said it was supportedd.
After getting it, I found out it was a version 3 edition of the chipset, wihch isnt supported.
Best way to do it is to look for a supported card, then troubleshoot the forums to see if people are being stung by dodgy chipsets.

I'd go for an Atheros-based card and the madwifi driver - check the hardware list on the wiki here . I use the D-Link DWL-G520 myself with Debian Sarge, and it's rock-solid.

You'll probably have to get the source code from CVS and compile it yourself, unless CentOS has a package available.
