Desperados

I had these in France a few years ago, absolutely loved them on the first taste and since then they have been without a doubt my favourite beer in the world. I've got them back here once or twice from friends who have gone over, but today my friend was showing me his photos from France and there was bottles of it in every photo. The itch is....itching again and I'm desperate to get my hands on them to relive the taste & nostalgia

Does anyone know where or if I can get them over here? I've heard oddbins in Blackrock might have them as they mostly do imported/speciality beers.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Desperados is quite possibly the worst liquid masquerading as beer I have ever tasted in my life, and I include Budweiser in that rather sweeping statement. It's sickly sweet and has no hint of tequila that I could discern. Only the French could mess up beer to this extent.

However, if you're really desperate for it, one place near you that might have it is O'Briens in Ballybrack SC. They had a pretty decent range of world beers when I was there a few months ago.

The Spar in Milltown definatly had it yesterday anyway.
    It's horrible tasting.

I tried some in France a few years back. They were horrible, I thought. Must be either an acquired taste, or just one of those things you either love or hate with a fiery passion. In the attempt to mix beer and the flavour of choice (I recalll tequila and rum being two varieties), it seemed to me they created a drink that has none of the "nice" parts of either's flavour, and all the "bad" parts.

Yep you can get them over here but I'd suggest you don't :)

Ah for feck sake is it not blatantly obvious that I love them?

OBriens in Ballybrack might have them?? Wowsers if they do...

    Heh, relax I was messing...

O'Briens should do them, I can ask a mate who works in the one on the Navan Road if they do if you're desperado to get them (see what I did there)...

Any other off licence with a good selection of World Beers should do them

As far as I know Redmonds in Ranelagh have them also (great off license that) I also used to get these in France a number of years ago and also thought it was great stuff. They used to have it on tap on our local bar and you could get bottles and cans in the shops. They only have the bottles here but at about three times the price, the same rip-off prices as with all imported beers.
Anyone ever try the Belgian beer Leffe? Fantastic stuff, sells in 700ml bottles in Belgium for between 1.50 and 2.00. Sells here for over 6.00. What great value you get for your buck here.

Yeah! Someone else who loves Desperados! They're great with a slice of lemon, chilled of course. Mmmmm. Even though I'm kinda hungover, I could totally go for one now!

I've only ever had them in The Porterhouse. Is there any offy in town that stocks them?

Oh the lemon is essential....popping it in the bottle with your little finger and the taste.....oh god the taste......

Cheers for asking your mate, but the Navan road is a bit of a trek away. I'll definitely try Ballybrack, but anyone know of anywhere closer to chez moi?

I find lime nicer then lemon. Quinn's in Drumocondra serves it by the bottle if you're ever out that way.

I'm another fan I'm afraid, tried them in Germany years ago when all I was drinking at the time was cider, it was the first beer I started on. Moved to Germany, drank a gallon of it a week, then discovered the German beers, now I ain't that much of a fan anymore

So does he mean no O'Briens sell them?

I'll just try a few different offies around me that seem to have a good selection so
