Looks like a replacement for the M-Box usb interface with all of Line 6's pedals in software.

Aye. M-Box competitor. Only thing is though that you can't use Pro Tools with it afaik. It's a lot like a POD XT though, especially since you can use the USB port on the XT to transfer the sound to computer.

It's not really an mbox competitor, it's just a snazzy (yes, that is the technical term) DI unit with effects, a la Pod. ProTools is the important feature about the mbox.
TonePort™ is like a rack full of premium tube recording equipment, plus a perfectly engineered recording room for guitar and bass, thanks to our acclaimed guitar/bass direct tone with mic and cab modeling.

That's great and all but tell me this, do you play the same playing discreetly into some digmod™ (I made that up ;) ) at headphone volume or do you think your playing will have a little more soul and balls if you were playing into a stack at full whack? :p
