I'm looking for a hard drive upgrade for my Sky +. I'm looking for a Maxtor 120Gb 5400rpm drive (model no. 4R160LO) or a maxtor 5400rpm 80GB drive but I'm findind it very hard to get. Anyone know where I can get one cheap?
    thanks.

I've got a lot of stuff from Komplett.

Here's a Maxstor 200Gb, but there's loads of other selections there too.

Had a look at the usual suspects for you, can't seem to find them. Not many 5,400 drives around these times, 7,200 is fairly standard. Does it have to be 5,400?

I think 7,200RPM drives will work OK but they are not necessary for Sky+. They tend to produce more heat than the slower drives - that is the issue.

I have just bought one of these from Komplett and will probably install today.

Have a look at this thread. Gods Toy upgraded his and seems to have had no problems.

Will post back later to let you know how I got on.

Installed the new HD and everything is working ok. Have recorded 3 programmes tonight and all played perfectly. I was having problems with the original so its great to have it working again.

    Installation was easy also.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the Samsung drive, from the sound of it though it's what I'm looking for. Basically the reason I'm up grading is my old pc hard drive failed and I might as well get a new one for my sky+ plus box and use the old 40GB sky Hard drive as my replacement for my computer.
