Been listening to the shouts of 'Howeryiz Duublinnn' drifing down from the park today reminds me of a song I wrote last year. I was looking at the state of some of the 'wans' going to the free gig in the park, when I thought to myself 'not exactly Woodstock, is it?'
So the song Woodstock by Joni Mitchell stuck in my head and I re-wrote the lyrics to suit the Dublin event....'Hoodystock'

    Woodstock (Louis Walsh style)

I came upon a shell-suit man, he was swaggering along the road
I asked him where are you going, this he told me
I’m going down the Phoenix Park, going hear some Louis Walsh bands
Eat crap out of a van, try to got me hole free

We are skangers, from Finglas and Cabra
And we might just kick the ****, out of some Garda

By the time we got to Ashtown, they were locked out of their heads
Everywhere there were cans, and souped up Micras
I thought a saw Starlet, it had wheels almost two foot wide
With neons, skirts and spoiler on its one litre engine

We are skangers, we’re from Drimnagh
And we’ve got to get ourselves, up to the Northside

And when those bands came on to play, I could not believe my eyes,
Crop tops and low cut jeans were much in favour
Through a hundred dodgy backtracks, mimed a dozen dodgy bands
My shell suited friend thought they were all ‘deadly!’

We are skangers, in our hoodies
And our favourite album ever is ‘Now 67’….

And so on. Feel free to add your own verses. :D
