Hi guys i just had a look at all the stickies Re Holiday pay but i still have a few questions so if you wouldnt mind bareing with me..

I work for a Netcafe with a few offices in Dublin and one in Cork. This year i belive it has been having a lot of money troubles. For example earlier in the year my cheques kept bouncing so now i get paid in cash. I get my payslips very late, maybe a month later and a lot of the time not at all. So i just applied for holiday pay and get a feeling that im totally going to get ripped off but i dont know how to prove exactly how many hours ive worked this year?

Any advice cause im quite desperate.

    thanks

You must get a payslip - they are legally obliged to provide you with one.
Also, all employers must keep records of the hours / days you've worked.
If they dont do either of the above, the can be fined under the employment acts.
The onus will always be on the employer to show your records - you shouldnt have to worry about it.

Best you apporach your manager and make them away of these things.
www.oasis.gov.ie has lots of info for this.

I'm actually in a similar situation - I've heard nothing back from a former employer who didnt pay my holiday pay.
I'mn going to demand my records of hours worked, and if not happy, I'll contact a Rights Commissioner about it.

    Good luck!

Its not your problem that the company is in financial trouble, you work for them then you get paid in return - its a simple concept really.

You should start looking for a new job, just in case.

The main problem at the moment is that the amount on my most recent payslip says ive earned this year about 2000 less than ive actually been paid. So im wondering are they just saying i havnt worked the hours that im not getting payslips for? im getting really fed up at the moment but i really cant lose my job so i dont wanna rock the boat too much!!

    Are you sure?
Have you accounted for all deductions and still find yourself 2k off?
Check all your pay amounts that hit your bank account from your employer and check payslips.
Does everything match? Does it match your annual pay?
It shouldnt be that hard to see where everything is amiss.

Never for one second think you're "rocking the boat".
You're making sure they pay you correctly and you've every right to do it!
It makes me nearly mad when I hear employees cowering to their employers... we have rights ya know!!
So learn them and use them :)

    :)

See i dont know exactly how much ive been paid as i dont recieve all my payslips and i dont get paid into a bank account anymore as the bank wont deal with their cheques!!! But if i average out how much money i should have made even at its lowest possible margin its about 2000 less than they are saying ive earned.

Is there tax deducted on your payslips?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
