Is it just me or are Sky actually trying to make a fool out of subscribers? I read the 'new' terms and conditions that came with this months Sky magazine and it mentioned in a few places about the magazine being £2 uk and €3 roi.
Can anyone tell me if this is true before I ring them up and cancel the most exspensive junk mail.

they can shove it if they think i'm paying for that, it's not even fit for use as toilet paper.

It also says you pay the same subscription whether you receive the magazine or not.

i believe the magazine exists for tax reasons in the UK

That's the way I heard it. +7 million subs @ £2 a month = +14 Million. Mags do not pay any VAT in the UK. +14 Million a month and no Vat overheads. It's a SKY SCAM.

Exactly. They save 17.5% on £2 of each subscription per month. It's worth almost £30M a year to them.

    Wow!

Funny I was gonna mention this too, after having a look at the brand new Sky contracts for use from beginning of September (Family Pack is no more). It's mentioned at the bottom of the contract about the mag costing €3.

Sky is becoming a joke now with the rise in price on its packages and now the mag....Does anyone know if ntl digital is any good???

I'd almost pay them €3 a month not to send it to me...

I hate the idea of that celebrity fetishist magazine being present in my household each month.

That loophole was forcibly closed in 2001, IIRC. Either way, they no longer save a single cent on tax by doing the magazine.

yeah - can you ? coz I will given half the chance.

fecks sake. that's a joke. I give the trash to my 2 year old to pull apart. and then there's all the "Congratulations, you've won a spectacular holiday" crap that comes with it. Pure tripe.

you can cancel the rag but you wont get a reduction in your subscription

I did not know that.

But still, I am sure they make a healthy profit out of it, or they would not inflict us with it.

That vat fraud ahem! avoidance scheme is still alive and well at least in Ireland.

It was some use when it used to carry a month's listings for the non FTA channels but it's utterly useless now.

Hang on so...does that mean that the subs on a 6 mix will actually be the 30.50 + 3.00...aka €33.30????

    No.

The Sky Mag even has a bigger circulation then the hallowed RTE Guide. I wonder is the charge required for some sort of ABC auditing (for advertising reasons)?

€3.00 whether you want it or not is a classic example of what our friend Mr. Hobbs is on about in 'Rip of Ireland'

The signal? Do you mean if your dish is obstructed?

Freeview is digital terrestrial, not satellite.

No, satellite and terrestrial television are utterly, utterly different

What you're getting there is free to air satellite television. The terminology confuses a lot of people, although I can't see why at all. Freeview is a UK-only brand name for digital TV you get with an aerial (not a satellite system). Totally different.
