Help! Need to get an office chair re-upholstered

Hi folks, just wondering if anybody here could help. My office/swivel chair here (the one my arse is currently sitting on right this moment! :D ) is starting to look quite threadbare. I have it almost 10 years and, needless to say, almost 10 years of daily usage has started to take it's toll, particularly on the seat part. I don't want to throw it out or have to buy a new one as this one is really comfortable, I find, and I'm really used to it at this stage and I don't really want to have to go breaking in a new one, so to speak.

I was just wondering, does anybody know of anyone or anywhere I could go to in order to get it re-upholstered. It's fabric-covered, grey in colour, and the best way I can decribe the fabric on it is that it's kind of a tweedy-style fabric, if you get the idea or know the type of thing I'm talking about. I'd like to get the same colour and style fabric put back on it, if possible.

Now, to be honest, I don't know if re-upholstering office/swivel chairs is even possible but, after examining this one, I don't think it would be a major job compared to some other types around, perhaps. There seems to be a kind of hard rubber or flexible plastic ring on the underside of the seat held in place with a few staples. From bending it back a bit and looking underneath, it seems the fabric folds around under this and is also held in place with a few staples. So, I'm guessing all that might be needed would be to remove the staples holding the rubber/plastic strip in place, remove the staples holding the fabric, take off the fabric covering the sponge seat, recover it with the new stuff, fold the excess over the edges and under the seat, re-staple, and re-attach the strip again to cover it. Though, I'm no expert in this kind of thing so that's why I think I'd prefer to leave it to someone who knows what they're doing rather than try it myself, despite as simple as it looks.

So, anyone know where I could go to get this done? I'm in Portlaoise, by the way, so someone or somewhere local would be preferred if possible. If not, does anyone know where I could get similar fabric to what's on it described above so I can try it myself maybe?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, folks! :D

    Anyone?

Oh, by the way mods, I searched to see if there was a furniture forum or the like here on Boards where I could originally post this and there doesn't seem to be but, if you think there is a more suitable forum for this thread or one where I might get a better or more relevant response, please feel free to move it. Thanks!

Why not ring one of the car upholstering places? Worth a shot.

Well, as I said, it's still comfortable but it's looking kinda tatty at this stage, hence the wish to get it re-upholstered.

Debracd, a throw? What am I, a woman! :D Sorry, throws don't do anything for me, I'm afraid. I think they don't look great on furniture, to be honest. Besides, I don't think a throw would go too well with an office chair anyway, they're more for sitting room furniture, aren't they?

    Anyone else have any suggestions?
