Adding Harddrive to PC

    Lo all,

    I am looking to add an extra harddrive to my rig for storage purposes, I've built a few comps in my time and am in no way a n00b to hardware, I was just wondering what sort of configuration is needed once connected, do I need to touch the bios? btw my current hd is sata but the one that I'm going to be adding is IDE will that make any odds?

    You'll probably need to ensure that your current SATA drive remains the primary boot device in the BIOS, as your new HDD, which will probably need to be Primary Master IDE (unless you have a DVD Drive or something already) could be detected as primary after boot.

    If you have a dvd drive (or equivalent disc drive) already, then you'll probably not have to change anything.

    If you get an error, it'll likely be that the BIOS did some incorrect auto-detecting, and you'll just have to specify the SATA drive as the primary boot device.
