Installing WIN XP on SATA hard drives

I have a new hard drive - Maxtor 250 gb SATA HDD and I would like to install WIN XP onto it. Do you need drivers for the hard drive, I hear some SATA hard drives need seperate drivers to be installed on a floppy disc. I can't find the drivers for my particular hard drive, does that mean there aren't any? Do all SATA hard drives require drivers when installing Windows onto them?

    Any good links for drivers?

You need either a USB key, a Floppy Drive w/ the drivers on it, or slipstream the drivers onto your XP, ie edit and reburn the disc

It's the SATA controller that the hard disc connects to that Win XP needs drivers for, not the hard disc itself. Assuming the controller is built into your motherboard and not one you added yourself, they should be available for download from the motherboards manufacturers website, or are possibly on a disc/cd you recieved with the motherboard if you built the machine yourself.

Yep. I'm not 100% sure if having them on a USB key is sufficient - the last time I tried this, WinXP installation only searched on the floppy for drivers, it refused to query the CD drive (resulting in much weeping and gnashing of teeth). I didn't try a USB key though, I could be wrong.
