I downloaded a rar file and realised that I had nothing to open it with, so I downloaded unrar.exe. However, I can't find any instructions for its use, and when I click on it all that happens is a DOS box flashes up very quickly. I'm probably missing something very obvious, but if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

That's brilliant, thanks guys. It worked perfectly and is obviously much more straightforward than the first program I downloaded.

Thanks Bedlam, I'll give that a go too and see which one I prefer.

That was really my problem parasite, I'm not hugely technical so I've no idea what I should have been running at the command line that the first program I downloaded seemed to need. WinRAR worked great though, and I'll try the others recommended for comparison.
