    Hi,
Does anybody know any MA's that are in swords or surrounding areas? I can drive but family means trekking through the snowy mountains for that ancient master isn't really my thing.

    Looking for some competition/tough sparring.
Coming from a jujutsu background (also did a bit of kickboxing)and tired of pokes and nerve pinches that never work (I've admitted it finally).

    Grappling and/or MMA kinda school.

    But I'm open minded.

I believe that Andy Ryan will be running MMA training soon in the Euphoria gym in Finglas. That's in the Jamestown buisness park on the Jamestown road. I believe that he is going fulltime in Sept,

What Celtic Fire said, I can vouch for that. As of next week Andy'll have MMA, Judo and BJJ running one night each per week.

Nothing really in Swords in terms of MMA, but there is Swords Boxing Club which I'd highly recommend, that's in its new home in the old library on North St. Between the Courthouse and The Harp.

I believe there's Muay Thai in Image Gym, don't know much about it though.

I think Swords Judo club only takes Juniors also, but I could be wrong.

Actually for such a big area there's not too much.

I suppose I should throw my own oar in here and say that myself and a few others train and roll on a Saturday morning in sub wrasslin if you wanted to PM me. Glasnevin.

    From memory:

    Andy Ryans
    Mondays 7.30-9.30 mma
    Tuesdays 7.30-9.30 no gi bjj
    Wednesdays 7.30-9.30 Judo I think
Thursdays 7.30-9.30 bjj with the gi

€6 per class and I think he has a monthly rate too. It's mostly beginners there, and a good bunch of lads all willing to have a go.

Thanks Roper. I defo try that. The non-gi bjj should like my thing.

    As for you Dent:
It been a while since you've graced the mat. In that time you been away I've graduated from biting and pinching when losing to biting and pinching all the time.

No bother, pinchers don't last long anyway :D

    Epo_man,

AFAIK, the Judo Club in Swords is attempting to become both a junior and senior club. There are very good judo clubs in Lusk and Portmarnock and these two clubs are handy drives from the Swords area. However, they are Judo and not sub-wrestling. I think there's boxing in and around the Swords area as well as TKD and Karate at ALSAA near the airport. That's all I can really say on that.

The Defend University dudes & dudettes ( http://www.defendu.ie ) teach in swords AFAIK, a mix of aikido & bjj I believe.

What EPO said, if you're looking to train in Muay Thai I'd go to the city and Bridgestone though.

So how many Muay Thai classes are there in the city centre and Northside?
Are they Thai nationals coaching are Irish coachs?
I used to know a Thai guy who was once British champion and used to
have classes here in Dublin. He moved back to England a few years
    ago though!

Irish coaches in Bridgestone anyway. PaddyC on the forums here is one of them if you want to pm him.

Was the Thai guy teaching in the Vietnamese centre in town?
