Not anymore. Most of the small stbs are fine now. Just get them out and try to get it replaced.

No way should you 'grin and bear it!!'. Get straight onto NTL and get them to replace the set top box.

Can't believe the attitude of some people in this country. Would you grin and bear it if your over priced meal in a restaurant was bad, would you grin and bear it if the ESB just cut you off now and again for no reason?! "Ah, sure we'll read by candle light again, no problem". It's this sort of attitude that allows companies like NTL to continue to provide a shoddy service for years on end.

    Rant over.

I would probably be likely to grin and bear it. But you are dead right, people should compain more.

And it's also the reason when the few people who do bother to call up to report faults are fobbed off and told "Oh well no-one else seems to be having that problem". Unfortunately many people just don't seem to bother to complain or shake it off with the "Ah sure, twill do".

Get onto ntl straightaway as SteM said - and fight them to the very end until you get a satisfactory working box.

It's quite common I think. I know it happens with mine a lot. I just press the red button and re-insert the card.

But you shouldn't have to. I didn't buy a kettle and expect to boil the water in a pan!

I've had both my boxes replaced but it till happens. It happens both on the box down and upstairs. I have to re set the bloody things a lot as well, by unplugging and plugging back in.

That's NTL supports favourite way of telling you nothing is wrong with their service and it must be your fault. When they upgraded the digibox software version a few months back some people on here posted that their remote started working slowly (press a button and something might happen a second or two later). The same thing happened with mine, rang support and first was told to change the feckin batteries and that no one else had complained so it must be localised to my set up. Ended up swapping for the newer remote (which they tried to charge me for) and everything's fine now - surprise, surprise.

If no one complains they think their service is fine - it's not and they'll never improve unless they're pushed.

No way I'd put up with that.

Look i had my small pace boxed replaced twice and it still does not work.
its all very well complaining to ntl.,they will give you another box and another box and they still wont work   i still have to reinsert smart card every few days . We put up with it because its cheaper than sky and we dont want a dish!!!!!!
Having looked at the current sky line up on a friends tv yesterday, compared what ntl digital get its a complete Joke.!!!!!!! I would love those two new poker channels and that interactivity which we should have by 2020!!!!!!
Take no satisfaction in saying this but ntl digital is a shoddy product and maybe if people threatened to switch to sky we might actually get a good service. Somehow i doubt it
