I'm doing Arts in September and I'm thinking bout doing Irish. I got a C3 in my leaving and I think it would be an interesting course but I'm worried that I wont be up to standard and fail.
Could anyone tell me what the Irish course entails and what they think of it? Do u have to go to the Gaeltacht or anything each year?

While I am a science student I had much the same questions last year when I was deciding to do physics or not, during the first week or two of term the lecturers were very approachable about this subject and gave me some great advice, I am sure this is much the same in arts so the best advice I can give is to talk to the irish department when you start.

They recommend that you don't take subjects if you haven't got a relatively high mark in them, but if you're willing to put in whatever work you'll need you should be fine. Don't know if it's like French and Italian and the like, but if so you'll need to pass a language bar to pass the year.

I do irish, im about to go into second year and i loved it. You should go and talk to the head of first year, shes really nice. I thought the lectures were really interesting, you do poetry, irish journalism, lang lab, placenames, two literature classes, grammar, course on an fiannaíocht.
You go to the gaeltacht for a week in second and third year.
I really enjoyed it and if you like irish you'll probably enjoy it. All the lecturers were really nice.
Oh misticles, just wondering, what lecturer are you refering to?
