I want to get away for a few days in Novemebr or early December to a European city... I'll be travelling alone with my camera... last February I went to Venice alone for a few days and it was amazing - I'd highly recommend it. Does anyone have anywhere they'd particularly recommend (except Paris - I'm saving that for another time:))? I was thinking Venice or Salzburg, but I'm very open to ideas.

    Thanks
    Morrigan

Salzburg is ok, but a day or two is enough there. Going by the time you are going, maybe look into going to a city with a good Christmas market. Some of the ones in germany are supposed to be very good. It's also very cold then in most of europe, just so you know.

How about Brugge - 'The Venice of the North' they call it & not that many people from this part of the world know about it.

Ljubljana, Slovenia. Get there with Easyjet from London Stansted.

Absolutely gorgeous. Its like a 1950/60s Western European city. Amazing architecture, great craic, nice people, cheap too!

Berlin is a great city, especially if you want to take great pics!

I went for a few days solo and had a great time....

Fly direct with Aer Lingus to Schonefeld Berlin, then train into city centre.. very easy to get around as well... fantastic history to the city.

this is a great thread! ok, would anyone have any suggestions for a city holiday, preferably in europe for new years? must be cheap, be nice if it was warm, but perhaps thats wishful thinking, and a good party city!
