The Hand Viewer (beta)

    Hi folks,

For a few months I have been working on something but me being as lazy as I am I was slow getting it finished. Basically I have for a long time thought it would be great if instead of pasting in the text of a hand history you could paste it into something else, namely a web based hand viewer that will play out the hand so you can watch it. The recent talk about this very subject has prompted me to get off my proverbial and get it done so I have a beta ready for ye to abuse. At the moment it only takes pokerstars hand histories (this will not stop you taking a hand history from another site and altering it to mimic a PS one and submitting that.) but I am working on a Tribecca one which should be avalable in a few days, seeing as PPP (tribecca) is the most popular site here it would be remiss of me not to include it eventually.
Now anyone who tries this may very well get error messages but that is to be expected as it's difficult for one person to get this right from off the bat so you'll be helping me greatly by pm'ing me with the specific hand history that gives you an error.
So test it out, break it and help me at the same time. I, of course, welcome any suggestions for improvement too. I do plan many myself but the more the better.
Anyway here it is - The Hand History Viewer. I got the ball rolling with an EPT sat hand I played so click to view the hand and see what you think. Submit your own and use the link in posts too if you like. Thats the idea.

Looks like a very nice piece of software that, couldnt help but notice how you folded AJ in the test hand though? :)

    quality piece of work :)

I'd love to watch a horrible beat actually happening, or even to authenticate a great hand such as a royal flush. Could also be used to discuss tough calls and so forth in better detail. Very clever. This could actually turn into something huge....

    Fair play :)

PS : did you actually invent the concept or just work on an idea already around?

Lol. I submitted that while testing without realising I was away from the table when that hand took place, honest :)

Thanks for the praise. Makes it worthwhile.

Rory as far as I am aware nobody else thought of this. I know Pokertracker has a viewer but I of thought this before I saw it in PT. I'll claim it as my idea. I was actually worried that once I get this out there many copies would follow but you can't do much about that. This thread will serve as evidence of when it first appeared.

Do you realise there's been one out for PP for a long time? Its called Hand Replayer . I'm just curious if you knew about it already, or if you just wanted to make one for Stars and Tribeca?

    *EDIT* question answered above

Nice Bryan. But you do know this is already part of Pokertracker right?

Just posted a hand and it worked fine. I'm very impressed .

Could the program provide a "step on and back" feature "select pre flop" " flop" etc

    Just a thought

I wasn't aware of the PP one. Can you link to a hand?

*Edit - I see you can. That is very nice stuff. Oh well I'll carry on with my bog standard one seeing as I've started it. Mine works in Firefox though :)

I mentioned above I became aware of the PT player recently. My aim is to allow people to put a link anywhere saying "hey look at this hand what do you think?"

It's on the agenda. I was thinking you could also post part of hand and ask what people would do next. Plenty of things I can do :) I did notice that your hand doesn't work exactly as it should. Might look into that. You can pm me the history text if you wish.

I'm on it. The tribecca format is not the easiest to parse but I'll get there. As an aside I should admit that the table image is nicked from PPP and I hope they won't mind that for now :)

very good idea, well done on it! will make reading poker hands alot easier, especially for those of us who hate reading hand history.
perhaps if you allow the person who is showing the hand to ask a question to the viwer, pre flop, on the flop, turn, and river. just a way that the person who actually played the hand can show what decisions he thought he was facing, and perhaps some background on the type of player he was up against. this could simply jus be a pop up text box with a few lines in it, the players train of thought perhaps. also a choice to pause the play after each round of betting, so as to allow for time to thinnk over the hand.
very good idea though, and best of luck with furthering its development
