... that got your attention, didn't it!? :D

Yep, some footage from a little horror movie called 'Slither' is currently making the rounds at ComicCon in the US. Written and directed by James Gunn who previously wrote screenplays for the 'Dawn Of The Dead' remake and most impressive of all, the 2 Scooby Doo movies!

The opening of the footage is a bit too cocky for my liking... and from then on, it just turns into a weird looking Society / BrainDead concoction!

The only actors in the film i recognise is Nathan Fillion (from 'Firefly' and upcoming movie, 'Serenity') and also Michael Rooker.

PS - don't watch if you're eating, or scared of large parasitic creatures mixed with gore!

    ENJOY!!

    Download the footage here! (WMV)
    Download the footage here! (Quicktime)

Added a link to a Quicktime MOV version of the footage.. see does that work for you!

Definantly not a broken link if Mobile saw it anyways... it does look quite good! Don't know how well that will go past censors - some of that footage in that trailer alone would be enough to get it banned over here!

But then again, i reckon JK (John Kelleher) is getting more leniant on the oul' censorship!

Seemed to be a firefox issue...

Well I'm intrigued to say the least. Looks like it might be entertaining.

Man, I'm seriously looking forward to that now! Reminds me of the old Stuart Gordon/Brian Yuzna films. Well, the good ones that is, and of course some of the gloriously bad ones that you just have to love anyway. Those simply had to be the gories films in creation.

Honestly, if I you hadn't mentioned James Gunn beforehand, I would've sworn this was a Stuart Gordon/Brian Yuzna film.

Speaking of those two though... When the hell are they going to release From Beyond on DVD!?

Seems like a properly funded Evil Dead. Could be very good, could be very bad. Either way I think the trailer looks alright. Kinda hard for me to get excited about this seeing as I won't get to see it til the DVD, if then.

    Cool!

I liked the intro bit.. made me chuckle. Looking forward to see does it live up to the claim.

I will not have my horror movie heritage mocked like that! :D

I agree with the above, looks like the sort of stuff that came with Stewart Gordon and Brian Yuzna on the credits back in the good old days. Ah memories of late nights with the VCR.

    Mike.

Yuzna though has been making an awful lot of ****e lately, such as Progeny and Arachnid. Great gore, pathetic films. Arachnid had me in stitches. A movie made a few years ago with spider effects from the 60's.

Anyway, guess thats too off topic. Any info on the release date of Slither? Real popcorn movie.....can't wait!!

Beginning of January 2006 in the US and UK apparently... may change though!

Indeed. I've not seen Progeny or Arachnid, but after seeing Faust I know what you mean. Utter ****e. Probably the last thing I enjoyed that he directed was Return Of The Living Dead III. Although, Dagon was fairly decent as far as Gordon/Yuzna goes.

I liked Dagon alot I must say, althought my friends laughed at the mere sight of the ever so slightly cheap box....

Faust was terrible, but believe it or not, an oscar winner compared to the abomination that was Arachnid.

At least though, the gore, regardless of the feature quality, is always consistant....lovely scene in Arachnid where a young spider crawls up a guys skin and bursts out his eyeball.

Return of the Living Dead III is a classic. Yuzna took it away from the comedy aspect to a straight forward gore fest. Worked pretty well too, I actually hated ROTLD Parts I and II with their mix of gore and comic but was pleasantly surprised on seeing Part III. Proper return to the zombie splatter flicks of the 80's.

Does Yuzna have any more movies in the works as of late?

Well I didnt know what to make of it,probably the only one but I dont think I'd be into it,but I did laugh at end when something said "Somethings wrong with me" :D

Beneath Still Waters. No idea what it's about, though I'm not sure if he's really got another good movie in him. I didn't rush out to see Beyond Reanimator, despite being quite a fan of Jeffrey Combs, so I don't think I'll be in any hurry to see any more of his work.

Now that looks like a film.

Unlike War Of The Worlds that was about as much of an anticlimax as the 3rd matrix.

The firefox issue that your talking about is nothing. All you have to do is right click and click "save link as".

    That looks excellent.
    Looking forward to that !!
Will it make it past the censors intact though ??

(side note - Arachnid !! F*cking hilarious stuff)

If you throught the original trailer was sick:

Watch the new R-rated RedBand trailer

I had the dubious honour of seeing Faust with Yuzna giving a Q&A session afterwards at the Horrorthon a few years ago. Later in the festival when Arachnid filled the house, Ed gave an apologetic little speech about how they were contractually required to show it if Yuzna was going to appear. He didn't go so far as to say it was ****e (I think what he said was "it's a fun little monster movie) but you could tell he was clearly embarassed that so many people had shown up and paid good money to see it.

Eh, that looked fairly **** altogether. What exactly did that show that made it any worse than the first one? If anything it looks far more twee and comedic.

I thought that new trailer for Slither made it look more like Eight Legged Freaks than something that will shock my delicate sensibilities.

Regarding Brian Yuzna - I know he's also got a "Presenting" credit for Worst Case Scenario ("D-Day mit Nazi Zombies"), although I'm not really sure that means very much.

Nazi Zombies? What's not to love!

Damn, I feel like playing Wolfenstein again.

i like the look of that. looks like fun with some good gore in it. Count me in. anyone else pick up on some cronnenberg homages. The bath scene looks like it's straight out of Shivers.

That movie is out? I would actually love to see that. Troma's "Surf Nazis must Die" anyone? :D

Take a peek around the site, it looks like it's something they're trying to get into production. The trailer is just a promo they put together to help with finding funding. I hope they get it made... I'm impressed by the clips they have up. Most of the Zombie Nazi films that were made in the 70s and 80s sucked balls, which is such a shame because the concept is zombie genius.
