Have a 56k Rockwell modem. Anyone know how to make it connect only at say 44000bps? It keeps on connecting at 49999bps but when it does the connection is usually messed up and doesn't transfer or recieve any data. Actually, anyone know why the connection is frozen but stay connected at high speeds?

Put this into the extra settings of u'r modem: AT+MS=12,1,28800,44000 (right click u'r DUN icon, click properties, then configure, then click connection, then advanced and add the string in the extra settings box)

That didn't work. When I tried it I got this error "Error 630: The computer is not reiving a response from the modem." Assuming that's the right init string for a Rockwell modem, what could be the problem??

Well its the proper init string for the Pace 56 Voice and thats a rockwell based modem. Try going to the manufactures site and get a firmware upgrade and new drivers and try again. You might also find the right init string there. sorry I couldnt be of more help.

In your modems manual it should be listed with a load of strings you can enter into it....
try putting in, "Advanced settings" the following string, &N21
