I'm in middle position with AQd, in a .25/.50 game. My stack is about $70 and I've been playing my usual slightly loose aggressive game. (approx 20 - 25% pre-flop hands played)

one limper in 2nd position, I raise 4x BB (my usual raise) get one caller on Button, (most important info is that this is the first hand he has voluntarily played in the last 43 hands - alarm bells were ringing!!!)

blinds fold and early limper calls.

    Flop is Qs, 5d, 2c.

    So pot is $6.75
Early limper checks, I bet $6 (my usual bet on any flop), button (rock) raises to around $30 all-in, limper folds.

So it's $24 to call, the range of hands I put him on was AK, AA, KK. I realise based on that I only beat one of his possible holdings, but I called anyway, would anyone have called too, or is this just the sign of my inexperience and obvious fishiness, not being able to lay down hands.

He had QQ and won the pot.

With TPTK facing an all in for $30, you will be behind here at least 95% of the time. The other 5% is made up of idiots with KQ, and AQ for the tie.

Re-raise the flop all-in, he might lay it down, then you have 2 ways to win, by him folding or by getting runner-runner Aces.

I think you answered your own question here. You figured you were probably behind and still called!

From that info, most especially the fact that he's a rock I would've let it go. You're only ahead against a worse Q or a bluff and neither of those seemed likely.

I'd expect to see him turn over AA, KK or QQ here - QQ being quite likely as he was probably hoping you'd the overpair. If we were to go with that range of hands obviously he's a hugge favorite and calling is sure way of losing money.

If he'd actually had one of the range of hands you put him on then depending on the exact size of the pot, calling is marginally +EV. You're putting $24 in to win $42.75ish which means you need to win about 56% of the time to break even and your equity against AA, KK, AK is 58%.

Although from the info, I think it's less likely that he had AK and this would make it a losing play.
