A recent post from someone about boards being Overly PC...in relation to boards and its general PC'ness...
Someone had said that all non-drinkers are weirdos (a little harsh) but a definite unPC generalisation.
I remember lots of other posts when i thought boards users were being overly PC and a little uptight. (generally in relation to posts by a certain unnamed boards member, initlals JV)

Does anyone out there agree with me, or do you all think that words such as "c*£t" should never be used??

heres the quote..anyone with more examples?

Overly PC? Or decent human beings?

    You decide.

It can be overly PC, but then boards like these have other things to consider, namely that anyone can view what is put here. It is completely open to the public and potentially for people of any age. It is for that reason that they have to be strict about these things. They have responsibilities in an open forum, to control content.

Slightly off topic...but not so much....I hate these posters - the ones that would kill a man to be a moderator- that castigate people about their posts....

Boards is a private forum and they have to protect their asses from law suites etc but I think it's the sheer colume of people that use it that causes the problem. Other forums with fewer members can be a little more easy going but boards is just one big hugely populated mine field.

Very true. You get all sorts in here. Private boards are more relaxing because you know who you are dealing with and what goes.

Boards used to be cool many moons ago. But things have changed.

I don't think that much has changed really. Only that now we have a past to look back on through our rose tinted specs.

'Back in the day' this place was a message board, now it's grown into that 's' in it's title and has become many message boards. Browsing though the posts from a few years ago I don't see any glorious golden age of intelligence, wit or creativity... it's basically just the same stuff happening less.

The mupputs of yore grew up to be the wise of today only to be replaced by new mupputs, and in greater number. And so the wise have become the peace keepers until the muppets again, become the wise.

But there will always be more muppets.

And too PC? Don't think so, no.

I wouldn't say overly PC. Rate of censorship is quite low, but a certain amount of control has to be maintained over topics, otherwise it just becomes an unreadable spamfest, like so many other message boards.

I have no idea what word you're talking about when you say "c*£t". Feel free to say it. No-one's going to smack you for usign naughty words.

I think he was trying to say ****

    DAMN YOU FASCIST CENSORS!!

....although 'c£$t' could have been l33t for cest, as in 'i was using the Central European Summer Time analogy as an example.'

But that doesn't make much sense.

To be honest, I think it's more a case of a lot of the boards user-base being overly PC. It's almost impossible to discuss immigration for example without the thread descending into accusations of racism. The same goes for other 'controversial' topics abortion, suicide, hunting etc. When a thread spirals out of control and off-topic like that, it generally gets closed, not because of the topic, but because it has become nothing more than tit for tat name calling.
