WIT To Get University Status?

Please excuse me if this is absurd but I have heard from two people that there are plans for WIT to get university status? Can any folk here confirm that? Many thanks, Nick

That ones been floating around the campus for a while now but I've never heard anything for sure on it.
It certainly has the necessary criteria to be one and more and more people are starting to back it but when it'll happen is anyone's guess, after next general election maybe?

I heard that a lot when I was studying down there 1999-2004. I'd say it will happen with the amount of cash being spent improving the facilities.

One of the lecturers had a meeting with someone about what to say to get University Status. I wont mention the name, just in case :P
