Odd CPU (AMD Athlon XP 2800+)

I've recently built a PC with an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ CPU and whenever I turn on the computer I get a message that says "CPU is unworkable or has been changed - CPU Soft Menu" during bootup and I have to press F1 to continue

The mobo is an Abit AT7 MAX2 and I haven't changed any BIOS settings

When I hit F1 there's no problems and it boots fine.

When i right click on My Computer and check the properties it says AMD Athlon(tm) 1.25Ghz

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions.

Primary OS is XP Pro SP2 and dual booting with Ubuntu

Is your Memory multiplie set correctly?

To match the FSb of the Cpu?

Used to get that on my Kv7 when i tried to run at 333mhz.

I'll be honest and say I have no idea what that means... I don't want to go messing with the BIOS since I have no idea what I'm doing

    RAM is PC2800, 1GB (2x512Mb)

I got that error message before, go into the bios save your settings, even if ya havent changed anything and the error message will go away. Nothing is wrong with your pc

I went into the BIOS and checked the Soft menu...

The CPU was set to 2500 instead of 2800 so I changed it over to 2800 and saved

Computer booted up perfectly, CPU seems to be a little noisier but then it quietened down again
