I hate it tbh, won't go into it but if you're interested as to why, check out the last threads in the IT Tallaght forum, they'd be from like last october or whatever.

I used it last year, like 6 people at max posted onto it, not worth it, should be taken off boards IMO.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 202 ✭✭Lilly81

do you guys have your own message board on a college website or something?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

    Lol no,
They wouldn't put a forum on the college site and also, they've all internet forums banned from access in the college, including boards

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Yeah that's totally retarded. And, our student mail sucks, i mean, whats the sceal with the addresses X00044444@itnet.ie....oh its so great, just like everything else in the college

I think the title of this thread should be changed to 'anyone from ITT so we can bitch about it'
the orignal poster hasnt even replied

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 202 ✭✭Lilly81

you cant look up hotmail or anything? i honestly have never heard of that in any other college. there must have been trouble a while back or something for them to ban all that? the only thing banned on our pcs in maynooth is chatrooms i think.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

yep no hotmail, no instant messengers, no forums (even though boards has a forum dedicated to the college)....no streaming audio/video...

Well..actually I can say nothing about ITT because I've never been there yet...but I'm coming to Dublin to study there as Erasmus Exchange Student...:)

What can you say interesting about this Institute? maybe sth about student acivity, sport? Is is really so good as it is written on ITT web site?
I regret there are no forums, etc on their site...I like to get to know new ppl and I had to post it here on boards.ie.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

    To be completely honest,
No, there is absolutely nothing interesting to do in the college. There in a "Student Union" building that is actually a wooden shack, with two low grade pool tables(which are nearly always in use), a couch and a dvd player.
You'll most likely have ridiculous time tables, some of my lectures last semester had 3-5 hour breaks in between them, so the majority of the time i went home and didnt come back in.
What can I say thats interesting about the institute?Well an interesting fact is that they've a student body of 2500 people and the capacity for 1500, which says alot.
Oh and I hope you like grey brick walls because theres no paint in the colllege either.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 Girl21

Heh..the building..never mind..I don't care about it, but I hope ppl will be welcoming:P In my last college there were about 90% of girls...hope here in ITT is another proportion:) :p
But this timetable can be a bit disturbing...as I want to take part-time job...we'll see:)

    Have a nice day:)

Oh god how I would hate to go to ITT, especially reading what you're saying! Do you all live near it? Getting there from Killiney-abouts would be hell

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

no its a 45 minute bus trip every morning, and the bus is dodgy, could be 40 mins late some days so you're waiting basically an hour at the bus stop most mornings...then again...i very rarely went in last year :D

    whoo, 600th post!

well im there 2 years now and am going into 3rd year, id say that as far as socials and sport go tallaght is pretty good. They do make efforts to help new students in their first year, and well the women... there all pretty hot. Ive got friends in DIT UCD Trinity Maynooth and they all agree that the women in Tallaght are something else. Most lecturers are very good at what they do but i will admit there are a few dic*heads. Anyone else want to share their experience ???

I have to disagree about the women, in my year(going into 2nd) theres like 4 at most!verry disappointing.

Freshers week should be good again, i hate the redbox with a passion but it was a bit of a laugh last year so ill probably go again this year.

And are there any girls over here? Maybe something about boys???;p;p;p

As Echxange student I can choose between courses of 1st,2nd,3rd,....year, nothing regular....so it is possible that I meet some of you during classes (if you will attend them of course:P)
to rb_ie: if buses are late every morning, would it be better to find accommodation near LUAS right?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Lol judging by the charade that was my repeat exam today, i've alot of doubt in my mind that I'll be back in Tallaght in September....have to see though, maybe i did scrape the 40%.

I'm not leaving my current accomodation!I live with my parents rent free, I get dinner every night and on top of my wages from work i get money from the rents to help me along!

    When are you arriving?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 Girl21

Well, I meant that I will be looking for long-term accommodation and I think I choose the option with LUAS to make the life easier...I hate waiting for the bus.
I'm arriving on 3rd September...on 5th there is sth like Orientation for Socrates Students. I heard it's kinda boring, but I would like to get to know all those things connected with studying there.
    Have a nice day:)

I worked in the applied sciences dept for the summer. Its a nice place actually, all the ****e heads drop out after christmas or before second year so I'm told all my mates go there.

The internet is crap out there really pissed me off but a bit of advidce use this to get to some of those banned sited

    https://

the (s) is for secure and bypasses some blocks but not yahoo or boards there banned manually by admin but the rest are barred because of content thats how i got to my trinity account and gmail and some other stuff!!!

Good place to go for certain corses. Science is good outhere if your not going for the research side of things.

rb_ie, you know nothing about the college yet after a year? There are messageboards for the college. http://www.it-netsoc.ie Sign up to the netsoc on Clubs and Socs day to get an account. There's nothing wrong with the college. Maybe if you spent more time studying and less time slacking off you wouldn't be bored.

And jazzbandit, please refrain from commenting on a college you know nothing about, thanks.

Hey,I know loads about IT tallaght.
Im from tallaght, so i see the people or whatever who use it. I even used to use it while i was a student at a university. I'd come back to tallaght and go up there to study during the holidays. The muppets even made u leave ur bag outside the library in case u nicked the books or the librarian!!! I mean, whats that all about. Tools.

But its not the end of the world if u go there. I have a mate who went there, and now he has a job.

The bit that surprises me in what you said is "...I have a mate"...seriously?? With that attitude!?!?

Anywho...just finished 4 years in Tallaght, and loved every minute of it. This is mostly coz of the friends I made though. The students union are pretty poor when it comes to organising nights out etc, but as far as I know the erasmus students have a lot of nights out themselves, more than the rest of the peeps.
THey need to get a decent president though who'll get more computers etc. Ken was great but Lane and last yrs one (dont even know his name which says it all) were pretty poor in my opinion.
I think the reason so many sites are banned is coz they havent got enough computers so they try to deter people from using them unnessicarily (sp)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,998 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

There are a lot of computers though, unless you're a business student :D

Yeah business students hardly ever get near the computers. You havta just chance your arm and try to sit in there while a class is going on around you,..but if Noel Brennan or Pat Donnelly are lecturing you dont wanna chance it! Scary men! :)
They defo need more computers for the business students. Its impossible to sit down with your ca group and do any work etc cos theres never any spare computers.
