My bus route

I have setup a webpage dedicated to extending the route 3 to Shanard Road and UCD. If this bus was to be extended as has been said before route 16 could be extended to the Airport and route 41/B would no longer have to serve the Airport as often.

There is a new route 3 timetable on my website, rosters and some stats about the changes.

The bus route would no longer serve Larkhill or Glendun Road due to parking problems, but the bus would stop on Collins Avenue, DCU, Shanowen Avenue, Shanard Road, Shanard Avenue, Shanliss Road (Terminate opposite Garda Station).
    REASONS TO EXTEND ROUTE 3

-- New links created between Santry and Sandymount, Ringsend, Merrion, and Belfield
-- More services with services on the northern half of the route 3 doubled.
-- To allow the 16 to be re-routed to the Airport
    CURRENT ROUTE 2/3 SERVICES

The buses operating Larkhill / Parnell Square to Sandymount / UCD are:

    Weekday: 80
    Saturday: 75
    Sunday: 50

The buses operating Sandymount / UCD to Larkhill / Parnell Square are:

    Weekday: 79
    Saturday: 76
    Sunday: 45
    NEW ROUTE 3 SERVICE

The buses operating Shanard Road to UCD:

    Weekday: 90 (+10 journeys)
    Saturday: 67 (-8 journeys)
    Sunday: 45 (-5 journeys)

The buses operating UCD to Shanard Road:

    Weekday: 89 (+10 journeys)
    Saturday: 67 (-9 journeys)
    Sunday: 44 (-1 journey)
    REASONS TO EXTEND ROUTE 16

    -- To allow routes 41A, 41B, 41C, 41X by-pass the Airport
-- To allow only 15% of route 41 journeys to operate via the Airport
-- To improve frequencies on both the 16/16A and leave these as cross city Airport link buses.
    CURRENT AIRPORT SERVICES - (16A, 41, 41B only included)

The buses serving the Airport to the City are:

    Weekday: 95
    Saturday: 88
    Sunday: 59

The buses serving the Airport from the city are:

    Weekday: 100
    Saturday: 91
    Sunday: 59
NEW AIRPORT SERVICES - (16, 16A only included)

The buses serving the Airport to the City are:

    Weekday: 94 (-1 journey)
    Saturday: 98 (+10 journeys)
    Sunday: 60 (+1 journey)

The buses serving the Airport from the city are:

    Weekday: 104 (+4 journeys)
    Saturday: 94 (+3 journeys)
    Sunday: 59 (No Change)

Overall I think that these 2 extensions would work especially route 3 which in turn would link the 3 biggest colleges in Dublin [DCU, Trinity & UCD, of course]. The only place that realistically loses it's bus service is the Larkhill Road area but the bus would still serve the bottom of this road so it would not be like they are to be totally isolated. And if this gets enough support I will press Dublin Bus to make the changes soon.

Not exactly true, the fine citizens of Swords will lose many direct services to the airport under your plan.
