    hi
i'll be getting a mac in a few weeks for college. what im getting is a beefed up imac g5, my only concern is the mouse and keyboard, wired or wireless?
personally i'd like to go wireless, cos the short those mouse chords really piss me off.
how do they compare, any lagging? do they require batterys, charging? anyone with any bad experiences?
    thanks

The keyboard and mouse are very good, although the wireless mouse is kinda heavy (with 2 double AA batteries inside it!)

You can't use rechargeable batteries in either, my mouse batteries only last about 6-8 weeks (about 8 hours use per day) but the keyboard hasn't had a change in batteries in about 8 months.

I'd go for the wireless keyboard, but maybe think about getting one of those cool new mighty mouse's instead of the wireless mouse.

nice one thanks, i was beginning to think my thread was lost in time.
wireless is the way for me so. i was thinking about one of those mighty mice alright but i think i'll wait till they go wireless. i was reading some reviews and the right button touch pad thing is still a bit dodgy considering that you have to lift your left finger while you tap with your right otherwise it registers as a left click, so that and the chord would be the only features that'd annoy me
thank for the info anyway :) .

    Why the problem using rechargeables?

I use the wireless mouse when travelling, but at the desk it just didn't seem sensible to waste batteries.

    Hi Shane ...
someone said there was an issue with rechargeable batteries - there isn't. Pretty well anything that takes batteries can take rechargerbles.
I have a new Mac Mini with Apple wireless KB and mouse. The mouse came with lithium batts - but manual DOES say that rechargeables, or alkalines, can be used. (Oddly, The keyboard came with alkalines - and ITS manual says lithium or rechargers are ok!!)
Works very well for me so far - was concerned having been used to a five-button trackball - but I'm gettin' the hang o'things. Lot of good short-cuts on the F-Keys.
As well as volume control and mute keys and DVD/CD eject key.

Just have to remember to turn both items off when done - usually forget the keyboard.

    Well impressed.

    Best o'luck.

thats cool with the rechargables, just to let people know that the best rechargables are nickel metal hydrate, there used for cameras flashes etc, up to an extra 50% in use
im gonna miss the scroll button though, cant wait for a wireless mighty mouse
the imac im getting is top spec 17", couuldn't afford the 20"
