I guess its old news for some but I hadnt realised it until I found it by accident downloading RTR 6.0.

Heres a rare EU link that doesnt require you to sign up for spam. In german, but the link is fairly obvious.

I played both battles - the Romano-British one I lost because I didnt fancy a river crossing into the enemy whilst my so called "allies" were lumping burning death into my own ranks with their ****ing onagers ( i hate those things, they aim like theyre completely sloshed, youre not entirely safe, even behind them....) so I ran out of time. Interesting scenario, just not for me.

The second battle with Attilas Huns against the Roman-Goth army went much better. The game practically tells you what to do. Sent two units of heavy cavalry to the hill on the right, with two horse archers. I used the horse archers to lure the Roman Heavy Cav, which was strongest on this flank up the hill then routed them almost instantly with my own counter charge. I didnt really exploit this properly though, the Romans turned most of their army againt this strong point, surrounded me and I was forced to commit my heavy cav to drive off attacking infanty - they didnt break them fast enough and I lost that flank. Still, it cost the Romans their shock troops and pulled their army out of position. When I do it again, Im going to advance my center line so that if the Romans turn to try and take the hill I can charge them in the flank.

On the left I sent horse archers to weaken the Goth infantry - I had light cavalry hidden in the woods but didnt want to let them loose till that phalanx was done in. That broke up the Goths flank... The rest was fairly textbook.

All in all, I think Ill like playing with the Huns, like the Parthians but with better infantry. But Ill prefer the challenge of defeating them with the West Roman army as well.
