    i use firefox as my browser
    when i download a file i just use the desktop as the taget loaction
    im wondering if there is an option in firefoz to select different locations for different file types
    say for example i download a mp3 file, i wanna save it to 'my music' or say i download awmv file- i wanna save it to 'my videos'
    is there a way of it automatically saving it to the preselceted folder for a given file type?!
    thanks ppl
    if firefox doesnt have tis functionality, is there summit out there tat can do it?!

    Thats actually not a bad idea. I'm not sure if there is a plugin that will do this, but it could certainly be implemented as one.

    EDIT: Actually, there is.

    You need to restart Firefox for the plugin to work.

    Have you done this?

    You also need to configure the plugin and tell it where to put each file type. Also, it only works on links you right-click and save as. If the link loads from a script (like a button press) then it doesn't capture it.

    For a handy shortcut to go to different download locations you can change the shortcuts in the My Places bar (that's the list of locations on the left hand side of the open/save dialog box). It normally has My Docs, Desktop, etc in it but you can change these to any 5 of your own choices.

    If you're comfortable with the registry editor then the location is as follows:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\comdlg32\Placesbar]
    "Place0"="C:\\Downloads\\Zips"
    "Place1"="D:\\Music\\mp3"
    "Place2"="D:\\Music\\Videos"
    "Place3"="X:\\Other\\Location"
    "Place4"="Z:\\Beyond\\Thunderdome"

    You can change the five places to whatever you want. Put the above in a textfile and rename the extention to .reg and it will load into the registry for you.
