Best DVD Player for XBox?

Have tried both XBoxMediaCenter and DVDX2 and i've little quibbles with both.

For example, the volume control on DVDX2 doesn't work.. find it difficult and annoying to scan through DVD's. On XBox Media Center, when i just click 'Play DVD' and try to play the R2 of Dodgeball, it starts playing one of the special features instead of going to the Main Menu.

So, what does everyone else use as a matter of interest?

I use Avalaunch as a dash and you can select "use internal player" in one of the options. It's the best one.

Just use dvdx2, use your tv for volume, :p or your surround sound, (if you have that) buy an av cable off ebay that supports optical, then u can get 5.1 outta it, so no need or want to use in built sound levels on the app. ;)

Don't have a remote for my TV.. so it involves getting up outta bed to higher / lower the volume!

And i quite like the way you can control the volume with XBMC but XBMC does have bugs with some DVD's.

Will try out a couple of different DVD programs available for it and let ye know what i choose.

i doupt anyone would go to the trouble of programming in volume control into dvd playing software,

i know you need it, but to be honest-you need a remote more :p

The volume control is in both XBMC and DVDX2.. but DVDX2 doesn't seem to work. It involves pressing down the left thumbstick and using the right and left triggers... never makes a difference though!

I've got a universal remote but i hate the thing! :D

If you look in the /system/dvdplayer folder in the latest versions of XBMC you will see a 'dvdnav.dll' which is evidence of alpha dvd menu support in xbmc dvdnav links . I dont know how to enable it but I know that you can as mentioned here (read the posts):16-08-05 xbmc changelog Sounds promising

It's here, a few weeks later than I expected but XBMC DVD playback with menus is now publicly available. This will become the dvdplayer of choice on the xbox once they've ironed out all the bugs.
